During the height of the war on drugs, Nafeesah Goldsmith’s home was raided by police. She was twelve at the time. They found less than two ounces of marijuana, and her mom was convicted on drug charges. Now that recreational marijuana is legal in New Jersey, Goldsmith fights for reparations for families damaged by the policy’s heavy policing in communities of color.
